Puppy Play & Train Services

Excellerate your puppy's learning and expand her world of understanding by enrolling her in our Puppy Training program designed to promote socialization, confidence and good manners for puppies under 5 months of age.  A puppy's first 18-weeks is often referred to as the critical socialization and development period.  Diva Dogs wants to help you and your puppy prepare for every day life. 

Please Note: To enroll each puppy must have two DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and parvo virus) vaccinations, and be 10- to 18-weeks of age.

The Instructor

Cindy Lonnstrom, Puppy Trainer and Dog Walker, lives in Sunnyvale, CA with her Labrador Retriever Chloe and her husband Jerel. Cindy has worked at high tech firms in the Silicon Valley for the past 20-years training and supporting people with business programs and e-commerce applications.  During that time she raised and trained three puppies of her own and boarded and/or trained her client's puppies.  In 2006 she decided to turn her passion and love for dogs into her next career, and continued her education as a professional dog trainer and became a graduate of the world known San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers, studying under Jean Donaldson, Janis Bradley and John Buginas.  She earned a Certificate in Training and Counseling (CTC) in Spring 2007.  She specializes in Puppy Socialization, Puppy Training, Dog-Dog Play, Dog Manners, Housetraining, Jumpiness, Mouthiness, Pulling on Leash, and Recall using humane and positive dog training methods.  Learn more about Diva Dogs teaching philosophy.

    • Puppy Play & Train Schedule and Curriculum

    The Instructor will personally pick up your puppy at your home, bring your puppy to her home to play and train, and then drop off your puppy back home.  Your puppy will get plenty of play and train time off-leash at our home with no more than 3 other puppies.  Weekday morning or afternoon schedule available.

    The entire puppy development period is 10-weeks to 18-weeks of age (40-visits).  At the end of each week, there will be a parent and teacher meeting to review your puppy's progress reports.

    Soprano Pup Program (8-weeks) - your puppy will learn Cue Discrimination (sit, down, stand), Heeling, Loose Leash Walking, Reliable Recalls, Leave It, Wait, Stay (down/stay, sit/stay, stand/stay), Go to Your Mat/Bed, not to Jump Up, Body Handling for grooming and/or veterinary exams and puppy play to acquire Bite Inhibition (the puppy’s ability to control the force of her jaws when she bites).  Optional topics include Retrieving, Tricks, Games and More!

    The program was designed and inspired by the writtings of Dr. Ian Dunbar, Dr. Pamela Reed (Excel-rated Learning), Jean Donaldson (Culture Clash), the Director of the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers, and Janis Bradley (Dogs Bite but Balloons and Slippers are More Dangerous), an Educator and SF/SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers Instructor.  One of Dr. Dunbar's books Before You Get Your Puppy is available at no charge on the James and Kenneth Publishers site.  Download your copy today.

    Pre-School Registration

    Your puppy must have two DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and parvo virus) vaccinations, and the Rabies booster at 16-weeks.

    School days are Monday through Friday, early mornings or late afternoons.
    • Puppy Play & Train is scheduled for 1-1/2 to 2-hours daily and includes travel time, socialization playtime with another puppy, and private training lessons (the trainer and the puppy).
    • An Introduction Fee is applied upon sign-up of the Play and Train program.
    • Call for rates on households with more than one puppy.
